Trinity Sunday

Pater de caelis, Deus, miserere nobis;
Fili, Redemptor mundi, Deus, miserere nobis;
Spiritus Sancte, Deus, miserere nobis:
Sancta Trinitas, unus Deus, miserere nobis.

Gloria Patri, et Filio, et Spiritui Sancto,
sicut erat in principio, et nunc, et semper,
et in saecula saeculorum. Amen.

Happy Feast!

New Bishop of Arundel and Brighton - Congratulations and Prayers

Bishop Moth

I have just read the very positive posts from Fr. Ray Blake and Bones regarding the installation of Monsignor Richard Moth as Bishop of my neighbouring diocese of Arundel and Brighton. From the posts, comments and also the text of Bishop Moth's sermon, it sounds like the diocese has been fortunate to gain a holy, sound and conscientious leader, and I wish him well and pray for the success of his episcopate.

A Little Humour

I see that the great Zephyrinus has posted something that made me smile (as I enjoy the end of a week away from the chalkface). Not to be outdone, here is something that I saw recently, and found very amusing..

Royal Baby Congratulations and Prayers

Duke and Duchess of Cambridge with their newborn daughter

Rather belatedly, as I have had commitments other than blogging, I would like to take the opportunity to wish Their Royal Highnesses, the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, congratulations, and every happiness and blessing on the birth of their daughter.

Thanks to the intercession of St. Catharine of Siena for a safe, and apparently straightforward, birth. My prayers for the yet unnamed little HRH, that Our Lord and His Blessed Mother will keep her safe and support her through what will inevitably be a life full of the demands that come with high office.

Ad multos annos.

St. Monica - Widow

Today we again celebrate the Feast of St. Monica, the mother of St. Augustine of Hippo, who prayed tirelessly, and ultimately perhaps even more successfully than she had expected, for his conversion from paganism.

Perhaps an opportunity to remember in our prayer all those parents who are presently enduring concerns and worries over wayward children.

Ora pro nobis

St. Athanasius: Bishop, Confessor and Doctor of the Church

Happy Feast!

I posted at some length about St. Athanasius on his Feast Day last year, and would refer readers to that post. This year, I have chosen a depiction (albeit slightly contrived) of Athanasius vested as a Western Rite Bishop ('coz I liked the picture).

Sancte Athanasie, Ora pro nobis
